Gastown is a small neighborhood burrow located in Vancouver, British Columbia. This area’s known for its beautiful Victorian-style building, trendy food and drink scene, and some of the best studios in the area. It is one of my favorite areas to head to when it comes to shooting studio sessions, and this one is no different. This Gastown Vancouver studio engagement took place with Nicole and Kelvin. Two lovebirds who never have stepped foot in front of a professional camera. After this day though, that all changed.
Nicole & Kelvin’s Gastown Vancouver Studio Engagement
For Nicole and Kelvin, we wanted their engagement photos to be something right out of a GAP or Calvin Klein ad. Or better, KELVIN Klein… get it? Someone stop me. We were wanting something classic, editorial, and yet very laid-back and casual. Lucky to say, we hit the nail on the head with this one. Nicole and Kelvin came wearing more baggy, light-wash denim and white tops. Nicole, a white button-up, and Kelvin keeps it classic with a loose-fitting white tee. The great thing about this Gastown Vancouver studio engagement is that you really get to play around and get creative. Since studios are minimally furnished, they leave the photographer and their subjects to be open and do whatever their heart desires.
We were able to do a lot of different poses, and prompts and still keep things authentic to Nicole and Kelvin’s love and relationship. Engagement shoots like these, while seemingly simple, are some of my favorites. I get to connect with my couples, capture their love story seamlessly and get creative. All three things that my heart thrives on.
